Yoga is a healing force. Yoga gives us strength when we feel weak. Yoga gives us community when we feel isolated. Yoga invites us to find our true voice when we feel silenced. Yoga heals the body when we are injured and broken. Yoga heals the mind when we are struggling. Yoga heals and brings us closer to our true selves.
Mandy’s journey to yoga came out of hardship. A year into their marriage, her husband Pat was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. While finishing graduate school, Mandy became full time caretaker for her husband while he underwent chemo and radiation therapy. For an hour a day, the mat became her solace. Yoga gave her the space she needed to open up and be raw, and fully embrace the brokenness she felt in that moment. And in the same breath, gave Mandy the space she needed to rebuild; to find strength from deep within. Yoga gave her the power and the courage to continue to fight. A year after Pat was declared cancer free, Mandy became a yoga instructor.
In addition to completing a 500 hour teacher training at Edge Yoga in Naperville, Mandy has studied Trauma Informed Yoga, Prenatal, Yin Yoga, Sound Healing, and Yoga Shred created by her mentor Sadie Nardini. Using anatomy-based, conscious movement techniques and meditative practices, Mandy offers her students an all encompassing experience for the mind and body to begin to heal from physical and emotional trauma.
